Run

This week, instead of studying for your physics, why not go for a run?

I do understand that running is not a favorite for the majority of people. To these people I have to ask, why not try it?

The physical act of running may not be the most enjoyable thing to do, but I can think of a lot worse things to do; and even if you do not enjoy the act of running, there is no doubt in my mind you will feel better after.

Running releases endorphins, endorphins make you happy. So yes, you may have a miserable 30 minutes of actual running, but after that you will be in a better mood.

Not only will you be in a better mood, but you will also be improving your physical fitness. So now instead of doing your homework, you can be working for that body that you have always wanted. It is a win win situation!

So instead of studying for your physics test, why not go run?

College Visits

This weekend instead of doing the 130 pages of chemistry you were assigned, you could go visit colleges.

Although this is usually something you can not just go do, it is a great way to procrastinate your homework. It will also give you a great excuse to give your teachers so to why you didn't do your homework.

Going and visiting a college will give you a great idea of if you enjoy the atmosphere of the college. Considering, for a high school student, this is one of the biggest decisions they will make in their life, it is really important to like the college that they are attending.

Along with getting a feel for the atmosphere, you get a feel for the town. You get to experience what the town is like rather than just taking what the town website says (which is completely biased considering they want to promote tourism to their town). The last thing you want to do when choosing a college is choosing a town that you hate and will dread for at least the next 4 years of your life.

Visiting a college would be a great way to procrastinate your homework not only because you are contributing to a major decision in your life, but also it acts as a mini vacation.

So instead of doing your homework, why not visit a college?

Contemplate Society

Today, instead of doing homework or preparing for any DECA competitions you may or may not have, why not contemplate society?

If you really think about how we live and what our standards are, we are pretty weird. For example, why is it so socially acceptable to be bad at math, yet so unacceptable to be bad at English? Yes, a lot of us have been speaking English our whole lives, but we have been doing math since we were little too, so why is it so different?

Take this scenario for example; you go to a restaurant with friends or family, when calculating the tip it is okay to ask for assistance yet, if you ask to be read the menu, it would be beyond weird.

Not only is the fact that we are more tolerant to the people who are not good at math a little odd, but we also favor athletics over an education.

The kids who work hard and do well in school are automatically labeled "nerd" and will rarely be considered popular. On the other hand, athletes (particularly football players) run the school and are praised whether they are smart, or failing classes.

These are just a few of the odd things that are part of our societies norms, yet the list goes on and on. So instead of doing any of the homework that you have, why not sit down and contemplate society?
