Apply for Summer Jobs

Instead of studying for an AP exam, why not apply for summer jobs?

Applying for summer jobs will hopefully result in getting hired to at least one of the places you applied to. Once you are hired, it will provide experience in the workplace, along with new references and previous work on your resume.

Not only will it improve your resume and chance of getting a future job, you will also earn some money. With this money, you can do fun things and not have to rely on your parents to pay for them.

So instead of studying, why not apply for summer jobs?

Golf

Instead of doing any ACT studying whatsoever, why not play golf?

Now, you can either go and play golf for fun or you can play for score, which are two totally different things.

If you are playing for fun, go with some friends, DON'T keep score, and just play to play and have fun. Don't stress yourself out because no one cares how long it will take you to hit the ball or if you re-hit a shot, you are out there to have fun.

On the other hand, if you are playing for score, be prepared to see the worst in yourself. Playing for a score will teach you who you truly are. Playing by the rules isn't always easy, it actually gets very frustrating very fast. I would not suggest playing for score unless you are really in the mood to learn every flaw there is in your personality.

Although playing for score may not be the most fun thing, I can guarantee that it beats studying for the ACT.

So instead of studying, why not go golfing?

Sleep

Instead of writing the essay that you have due tomorrow, why not sleep?

Many people do not have sleep at a top priority in their lives, when it should be. Sleep is an essential part of life, and yet more and more people are trying to find ways to do more with less sleep.

So let's look at some statistics.
  •  45% of teen in grades 6-12 get less than 8 hours of sleep a night.
  • High school seniors get an average of 6.9 hours of sleep
  • Teens (Ages 11-17) are recommended 8.5-9.5 hours of sleep a night
  • Adults (Ages 18+) are recommended 7-9 hours of sleep a night
People continue to find things to do instead of sleep, and it is quite easy to do considering in our society there is something going on 24 hours a day. This is part of the reason the CDC is calling this a sleep epidemic.

So let's say you do sleep instead of writing this essay, what does this do to benefit you? Here are just a few benefits that you can get from sleeping.

  • Sleep lowers stress and improves mood
  • Sleep helps you maintain a healthy weight
  • Sleep improves athletic performance and coordination
  • Sleep improves your ability to pay attention and remember information
Instead of writing your paper that is due tomorrow, why not sleep?
