Sleep

Instead of writing the essay that you have due tomorrow, why not sleep?

Many people do not have sleep at a top priority in their lives, when it should be. Sleep is an essential part of life, and yet more and more people are trying to find ways to do more with less sleep.

So let's look at some statistics.
  •  45% of teen in grades 6-12 get less than 8 hours of sleep a night.
  • High school seniors get an average of 6.9 hours of sleep
  • Teens (Ages 11-17) are recommended 8.5-9.5 hours of sleep a night
  • Adults (Ages 18+) are recommended 7-9 hours of sleep a night
People continue to find things to do instead of sleep, and it is quite easy to do considering in our society there is something going on 24 hours a day. This is part of the reason the CDC is calling this a sleep epidemic.

So let's say you do sleep instead of writing this essay, what does this do to benefit you? Here are just a few benefits that you can get from sleeping.

  • Sleep lowers stress and improves mood
  • Sleep helps you maintain a healthy weight
  • Sleep improves athletic performance and coordination
  • Sleep improves your ability to pay attention and remember information
Instead of writing your paper that is due tomorrow, why not sleep?

  1. I got about 6 hours of sleep last night and I feel great. Would you mind going into how the sleep cycles work and why that is on your next post? That would be much appreciated since I have no idea why. Thanks!!!
